The goal of this project was to design a poster promoting an event. The poster should promote the primary event as well as contain all relevant information for students participating in the secondary message.

The audience for this poster were students and Shawnee State University staff.

My initial rough draft posters were an exploration into the type layout and design as well as minimizing the use of shapes. This led to more focus in on the words and type. Many of the posters I made in this stage ultimately ended up not getting revisions as they didn’t fit right with what I was trying to accomplish.

In the end the one I chose to move forward with was the multicolored poster. This one had an overwhelming response.

I took into account everyone’s agreeance on the focal point being hard to find. I fixed it by making the title heavier and larger as well as removing the lines from the top and bottom. I left the line of words at the top as it felt a little empty and too heavy on the left hand side when I tried to move it. Moved some of the word blocks around and used lighter weights of font to help with the title as well.
